Wesmar Racing Engines does it again!!
Shane Stewart continued his dominance of the Knoxville 360 Nationals by capturing his fourth consecutive (fifth overall) title since 2007. Driving Paul Silva’s Wesmar powered/A.R.T. Chassis #57, Stewart took advantage of his pole position starting spot for the final night finale by jumping out to the lead and quickly set a torrid pace. A yellow flag with three to go bunched the field up but once the green was thrown Stewart once again pulled away. With the white flag waving Stewart was driving out of turn two when the red lights came on for a flipping Robbie Wolfgang. Under the red flag Stewart yelled to car owner Paul Silva that he lost his power steering and had fluid soaked on the bottom half of his firesuit. Once the green flew Stewart muscled his machine with what strength was left over the final two laps to another convincing win over Kevin Swindell and third place Kyle Larson.
This victory was Wesmar’s eleventh title overall in the 360 Nationals and had a special meaning to it this year as company founder Bob Westphal had passed away from his bout with cancer two months earlier on June 9th.
